Seizing that Blog Moment

Idesperately need to scoop myself out of this boredom blackhole that has been relentlessly sucking me in for weeks now, so I thought perhaps that I could blog. I went to reading through my favorite blogs (with the little knowledge of the blogosphere I currently have). I stumbled upon several interesting entries such as the latest American Idol recap on Vote For the Worst (hilarious, I tell ya, hilarious!) and Kim’s meme (whatever a meme is – help?) which included 5 questions that are certain to make anyone who likes blogwriting drool. The first question which asks for the origin of your blog quickly put me to a daydream about unleashing on my trustee notepad to share all my anger and angst.

I didn’t do it though.

Why? It never felt right the entire time I was trying to rip the questions from her blog to mine. I mean, it was like carrying my originality to the altar just for the sake of a quick blogging fix. True, there are tons of stuff out there which can make me say, “Damn, I wish I thought of blabbing about that first!,” but I think that’s just about what these entries can ultimately do for you: make you enjoy them as part of the audience. I also thought twice on writing about how pimped Jordin Sparks has been over Melinda Doolittle in the last couple of weeks on American Idol or how Martina Hingis appears to be frail lately especially in her titanic struggle/match against Kateryna Bondarenko at the Qatar Telecom German Open, but it’s just not worth it… yet. I may be having difficulty finding time (and reasons) to blog these days but I decided “taking inspiration” from one’s entry is hardly self-gratifying.

I guess it really is this hard to come up with a topic to talk about – but I’m not sure if it’s just an “at least for me” thing – seizing that blog moment. There are many things to notice and witness out there but I’m sure it’s rare that your blog fancy will be thoroughly captured. So thanks to my sheer brilliance (thank you); it allowed me to turn things around and blog about this nothingness that seems to be here to stay. If I can’t write about anything, then I’ll write about not having anything to write about. Senseless, but satisfying. Heh.

Anyway, I have also been preparing myself for some time now to write about what might potentially be the Pop Culture and Less breakthrough entry. I have seized that blog moment long ago but have yet to find the groove to sit down on it. Wish me luck!

Teehee! Meme-ing, in the blogosphere, (and please note that this is merely my own definition of it) means “to drive one insane.” Someone who tags you with a meme is simply someone who wants to know ya better - you make lists of things that you like, dislike, admire, abhor, laugh about, cry about, reminisce on, etc. Your “tagger” reads your meme, and cha-ran! Instant connection!

I have to agree with you on your view about meme-ing, though - sometimes I do think, “yeah, why the heck didn’t I think of that?” The answer I always give to console myself is, “because I have other More Important things to do than to think of topics to meme and to tag other people with.” But then, right after I console myself about my lack of originality…

    Someone tags me.

And then, I get hooked all over again.

I can’t help it - I drive towards “meme heaven” whenever work is becoming waaaaay too much to shoulder.

Hence, consider yourself tagged, Popless (http://mineistheearth.blogspot.com/2007/05/tagged-again.html)! I’m sure your readers would love to get to know you just a teensy weensy bit better.

Forgot to ask you earlier… what does “pimped,” in this particular blog post, mean? As in, “…how pimped Jordin Sparks has been over Melissa Doolittle…” I keep on thinking of the more traditional meaning of the word - and it somehow doesn’t seem right when you spoke of Jordin and Melissa. :)

So…tonight it’s the battle between Jordin and Blake, eh? I secretly hope Blake wins, but I also really like Jordin. As Randy said, it seems to be a contest between best entertainer and best vocalist…

Anyway, cool blog. I think I have to do a Google search on “meming”! LOL! I have been meming for the past year or two. It started off with friends sending me these crazy surveys to get to know each other better and then when I started a blog, everyone seems to be tagging everyone with memes. I wonder if the word “meme” comes from the French word meaning “the same”??

Hey Kim. Thanks for the definition of meme! Here I thought it’s like “Me! Me!” which sort of says listen to me and me alone now. That’s not really unlikely with blogging, right? Heh.

Anywho, by saying “…how pimped Jordin Sparks was over Melinda Doolittle…” I mean the judges put her on a spot that would definitely get the former a good chunk of votes (they say that on American Idol you get pimped either by really getting trashed even if you did good or over-praising them despite mediocre performances).

Hey Chrissy! Thanks for visiting! Sorry that there’s not much to read yet on here. The blog is fairly new but I hope the product so far has appealed to you. :)

Mimon (didn’t know that that’s your nickname :)), a “huhuhu” and a “sniff sniff” on the latest entry entitled, “I Owe My Ex Money.” :( But it’s better than “I Owe My Mom Money,” which I think I’ll be blogging about, oh, in 2011, the year when I’ve fully paid her back my utang. Will have to be very careful though, since I can’t just definitively say “see ya, bebe!” after closing the transaction. So, count yourself still lucky! ;)

To cheer yourself up, now’s a good time to do that meme! (Chrissy, is “meming” the right form of the verb - thought it was “memeing”?… oh well!)
